The Malayalam film industry is facing major trouble due to ongoing drug-related issues. Shine Tom Chacko who recently made headlines for fleeing a drug raid has now been arrested by police.
He was booked under Sections 27 (drug consumption) and 29 (criminal conspiracy) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act after being questioned.
Although the charges are bailable the situation has put the actor and the industry under serious scrutiny. Police mainly questioned Shine about why he ran from the hotel during the raid.
In his defense, Shine claimed he didn’t know it was the police at his door and thought it was a group of attackers.
It’s worth noting that Shine Tom Chacko was previously acquitted in a 2015 drug case earlier this year. With fresh allegations also surfacing against actor Sreenath Bhasi, the Malayalam industry is once again under the scanner.
