Maremma Movie Review & Rating!

Ravi Teja rose to stardom without any film background and enjoys a huge fan following. So, expectations are naturally high for his nephew Maadhav Bhupathi Raju. He was earlier set to debut with Mr. Idiot, but the film was not released. Now, Maadhav is making his debut with the raw and rustic film Maremma. Let’s see how the film works as his debut.

Maremma Story: Maremma is set in Mahishapuram, a Telangana village where people follow a tradition of sacrificing a buffalo every ten years. Karna (Maadhav Bhupathiraju) is given the responsibility of raising Maari, the buffalo chosen for sacrifice. But Karna becomes deeply attached to Maari and does not want to sacrifice it.

On the day of the ritual, Maari suddenly disappears. Who took Maari? Why does Jalandhar (Vikas Vasishta) hate the villagers? Will Karna find Maari? The rest of the story answers these questions.

Performances: Maadhav Bhupathiraju suits the role of Karna, but his expressions and dialogue delivery need improvement. Deepa Balu looks good as Manju, though her character lacks depth.

Vinod Kumar and Vikas Vasishta are not fully convincing in their roles. Roopa Lakshmi stands out with her different role and makeover and delivers a good performance. The rest of the cast has limited impact.

Technical Aspects: Maremma tries to present a raw and rooted story but lacks the natural and original feel such films need. The film becomes predictable and loses the audience’s interest early on. The music is the only major positive, while the cinematography, camera work and locations are weak.

Analysis: Apart from two or three good songs, Maremma has very little to offer. The film completely disappoints the audience who watch it in theatres.

Verdict: Maremma fails to deliver a convincing rooted story. Apart from a few good songs, the film lacks strong performances, engaging narration and technical quality, leaving theatre audiences disappointed.

Bottom Line: A disappointing rustic drama .
