Ustad Hotel

Story:

Ustad Hotel is a Malayalam drama film directed by Anwar Rasheed, written by Anjali Menon, and produced by Listin Stephen. The film stars Thilakan, Dulquer Salmaan, and Nithya Menen, with Siddique, Mamukkoya, and Lena in supporting roles, and Asif Ali and Jishnu in cameo appearances. Gopi Sundar composed the music, Loganathan Srinivasan handled cinematography, and Praveen Prabhakar edited the film.

The plot revolves around Faizal, known as Faizi, a young man studying to be a chef in Switzerland against his father’s wishes. When his father discovers this, he confiscates Faizi’s passport to prevent him from pursuing a job in the UK. As tensions between father and son escalate, Faizi is compelled to work as a cook at his grandfather Karim’s restaurant in Kozhikode until he can devise a new plan.

Ustad Hotel was released on June 29, 2012, in Kerala and on July 20, 2012, elsewhere in India, achieving commercial success. The film garnered three National Film Awards. It was remade in Kannada as “Gowdru Hotel” (2017) and dubbed into Telugu as “Janatha Hotel.”
