Modha Rathiri

Story:

The 2026 Tamil rural comedy-drama Modha Rathiri (First Nite) is produced by Mythri Movie Makers and directed by rookie Raja Karuppasamy. Anishma Anilkumar plays Muthuselvi in the movie, whereas Rishikanth plays Maruthanayagam, a groom who returned to Dubai.
The Trick: After his last love tragically committed suicide, Maruthanayagam (Marudhu) is hesitant to get married. His family deceives him into coming back from Dubaiby by pretending that it is a child’s ear-piercing ritual, just to surprise him with a planned rural wedding.He gives in due to emotional pressure from his family.The Bride’s Strategy: Muthuselvi plans to flee with her boyfriend, but he doesn’t arrive in time, so she is forced to wed Marudhu instead.The Chaotic First Nite: Muthuselvi intends to flee to her lover on their wedding nite (modha rathiri). When Marudhu learns, he is compassionate and decides to assist her in finding the person she loves because he knows he cannot live with the person he desires.The Twist: When Muthuselvi’s lover abruptly deserts and betrays her, leaving her stranded, plans fall apart. When Marudhu intervenes to save her, the hamlet descends into unanticipated chaos, secrets, falsehoods, and a humorous and poignant turning moment for both of them.
