Story:

Plot

Kaushik, a timid and compliant young man, weighed down by the pressure of fulfilling his father’s long-standing ambition of making him a doctor. His seemingly ordinary college life takes a terrifying turn after a mysterious incident, after which Kaushik begins hearing an overpowering voice in his head and displaying bouts of uncharacteristic aggression and erratic behavior.

Disturbed and desperate, his family becomes torn between scientific reasoning and deep-rooted superstitions. Believing Kaushik to be under the influence of a supernatural force, they resort to traditional healers, shamans, and tantriks for answers. However, the narrative takes a sharp turn when Dr. Shraddha, a rational and empathetic psychiatrist, steps in to unravel the truth.

Through her investigation, it is revealed that Kaushik isn’t possessed by a ghost, but by a psychological alter ego—a dark persona named Ghatikachalam. This alter ego is a manifestation of Kaushik’s suppressed emotions and a deep obsession with unsolved crime stories, blurring the boundaries between his reality and imagination.

What follows is a haunting exploration of the human psyche, as Kaushik is forced to confront his inner demon and reclaim control over his mind. Ghatikachalam deftly navigates the thin, unsettling line between mental illness and perceived possession, spotlighting the urgent need for mental health awareness in a society still grappling with stigma and fear.
