Story:

Ami Thumi is a 2017 Telugu romantic comedy written and directed by Mohanakrishna Indraganti. Starring rising stars Adivi Sesh and Eesha Rebba alongside seasoned actors like Avasarala Srinivas and Aditi Myakal, the film blends laughter and love in a delightful mix. With music by the legendary Mani Sharma and cinematography by P. G. Vinda, “Ami Thumi” promises a visually and acoustically pleasing experience.

Interestingly, the film takes inspiration from a classic literary source – Richard Brinsley Sheridan’s “The Duenna.” Not the first Indian adaptation of the play, “Ami Thumi” follows in the footsteps of 1971’s “Ananda nilayam,” directed by B.S. Narayana. With a fresh take on a timeless story, “Ami Thumi” offers a modern update on this beloved comic tale.

It’s a whirlwind of love, laughter, and family drama, following the intertwined stories of two couples: Maya (Aditi Myakal) and Vijay (Avasarala Srinivas), and Deepika (Eesha Rebba) and Ananth (Adivi Sesh).

Things get complicated when Deepika’s overprotective father, Janardhan (Tanikella Bharani), disapproves of her relationship with Ananth. Not only that, he’s also a fierce business rival of Maya’s father, adding another layer of tension to the mix.

Determined to be together, Deepika hatches a hilarious plan. Enter Sri Chilipi (Vennela Kishore), a bumbling yet good-natured guy whom Deepika convinces to pretend to be her ideal match. Hilarity ensues as Sri Chilipi, under Deepika’s expert guidance, tries to win over Janardhan’s approval, all while secretly helping Deepika and Ananth stay together.
