Vishal Furia is an Indian filmmaker acclaimed for his contributions to the horror and thriller genres. He began his career as a VFX artist, dedicating 16 years to the field before transitioning to filmmaking. His directorial debut was the Marathi horror film Lapachhapi (2017), which garnered critical acclaim for its unique blend of folklore and social commentary. The film was nominated for Best Director at the 4th Filmfare Awards Marathi.
Furia expanded his reach to digital platforms by co-directing the first season of the crime thriller series Criminal Justice (2019), an adaptation of the British series of the same name. He continued to explore the horror genre with Chhorii (2021), a Hindi remake of Lapachhapi, which premiered on Amazon Prime Video. The film’s success led to a sequel, Chhorii 2 (2025), further solidifying his reputation in horror filmmaking.
In addition to his work in horror, Furia directed Forensic (2022), a crime thriller, and the Marathi psychological horror film Bali (2021). His upcoming project, Maa (2025), is a mythological horror film starring Kajol, set to release in multiple languages, including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Bengali.
