Vikram Gokhale

Biography:

Vikram Gokhale, born on 14th November 1945 in Pune, Bombay Presidency, was a distinguished Indian actor known for his remarkable contributions to Marathi theatre, Hindi cinema, and television. He hailed from a family deeply rooted in the entertainment industry, with his father, Chandrakant Gokhale, being a veteran Marathi film and stage artist.

Gokhale’s career spanned across various mediums, showcasing his versatility and talent. In 2010, he ventured into directing with the Marathi film “Aaghaat,” marking a significant milestone in his career. However, it was his portrayal in the Marathi film “Anumati,” produced by Sprint Arts Creation in 2013, that earned him widespread acclaim and the prestigious National Film Award for Best Actor.

Beyond his professional endeavors, Gokhale’s personal life was equally noteworthy. He married Vrushali in 1975, and together they were blessed with two daughters, Aasavari and Neha. Vrushali herself was an actress, having appeared in a few films and TV shows. Gokhale was also actively engaged in social causes, running a real estate firm called Sujata Farms in Pune and participating in charitable initiatives. His family’s foundation extended support to disabled soldiers, children of lepers, and orphaned children, reflecting Gokhale’s commitment to philanthropy.

In February 2016, Gokhale retired from stage activities due to a throat ailment, although he continued to pursue his passion for acting in films. Tragically, he passed away on 26th November 2022 at Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital in Pune, succumbing to multiple organ failure. His legacy as a talented actor and dedicated philanthropist continues to inspire and resonate with audiences even after his demise.
