Teodoro Maniaci is an American documentary filmmaker and cinematographer. One Nation Under God, a documentary on the ex-gay movement, is what made him most famous. Maniaci grew up in Long Island, New York. In 1990, he graduated with a master’s degree from New York University Film School after attending Tufts University, which is located outside of Boston, Massachusetts. He belonged to Local 600 of the Directors of Photography Union as of 2007.
Clean, Shaven (1993), Claire Dolan (1998), The Tao of Steve (2000), The Business of Strangers (2001), Party Monster (2003), Inside Deep Throat (2005), and Outsourced (2006) are among Maniaci’s cinematography credits. Party Monster’s cinematography “looks as atrocious as most digital video,” according to Charles Taylor of Salon. However, Maniaci’s cinematography in Claire Dolan was commended by both Ken Hollings from the British Film Institute and its director, Lodge Kerrigan. In addition, Maniaci has done cinematography for a number of music videos, short films, and television shows, such as Brotherhood, Allegiance, The Breaks, and The Bold Type.
