Talluri Rameswari, also known as Rameswari, is a renowned Indian actress whose illustrious career has encompassed the realms of Hindi, Odia, and Telugu cinema. Her origins can be traced to Andhra Pradesh, where she was born and raised, spending her formative years in Kakinada. Rameswari’s personal life saw her union with Deepak Seth, a fellow alumnus from the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), and together they have two sons named Bhaskara Pratap Seth and Surya Prem Seth.
Following her marriage, she took a hiatus from acting to focus on raising her children but eventually returned to the silver screen in the 2000s, predominantly portraying mature roles. In collaboration with her husband, she ventured into film production, co-producing a Hindi film titled “Hum Farishte Nahin” (1988) and a Punjabi film named “Mein Tuun Assin Tussin” (2007), which was based on Shakespeare’s play “The Comedy of Errors.” More recently, she has been active in the realm of television series.
Rameswari graduated from FTII in 1975, and her breakthrough moment arrived in 1977 with the Rajshri Productions’ film “Dulhan Wahi Jo Piya Man Bhaye,” which achieved monumental success and catapulted her into the hearts of audiences across India. In 1978, she essayed the titular role in K.
Viswanath’s “Seetamalakshmi” (Telugu), a performance that earned her the prestigious Filmfare Award for Best Actress in Telugu cinema. Among her other notable cinematic endeavors are “Sunayana” alongside Naseeruddin Shah, “Mera Rakshak” featuring Mithun Chakraborty, as well as “Sharda” and “Aasha” with Jeetendra. Her portrayal in the latter two films garnered her a Filmfare Nomination for Best Supporting Actress. Beyond her contributions to Hindi and Telugu cinema, she has also graced Odia and Malayalam movies with her presence.
