Stellan Skarsgård

Biography:

A Swedish actor, Stellan John Skarsgård   born June 13, 1951 was born on June 13. His work with filmmaker Lars von Trier is well-known, and he has appeared in films such as Nymphomaniac (2013), Dancer in the Dark (2000), Dogville (2003), Melancholia (2011), and Breaking the Waves (1996). Among Skarsgård’s English-speaking film roles are King Arthur (2004), Ronin (1998), Good Will Hunting (1997), The Unbearable Lightness of Being (1988), and The Hunt for Red October (1990).

Since then, Skarsgård has starred in popular films including Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End (2007) and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest (2006). Additionally, he starred in David Fincher’s thriller The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo (2011), Angels and Demons (2009), and Mamma Mia! (2008). In addition to portraying Baron Harkonnen in Denis Villeneuve’s two-part Dune adaption, Dune (2021) and Dune: Part Two (2024), he played Dr. Erik Selvig in five MCU films, beginning with Thor (2011).

Furthermore, he is well-known for his roles as Luthen Rael in the Star Wars political spy thriller series Andor (2022–2025) and Boris Shcherbina in the HBO miniseries Chernobyl (2019), for which he was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie and won the Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actor – Series, Miniseries or Television Film.
