His work with filmmaker Lars von Trier is well-known, and he has appeared in films such as Nymphomaniac (2013), Dancer in the Dark (2000), Dogville (2003), Melancholia (2011), and Breaking the Waves (1996). Among Skarsgård’s English-speaking film roles are King Arthur (2004), Ronin (1998), Good Will Hunting (1997), The Unbearable Lightness of Being (1988), and The Hunt for Red October (1990).
