Biography:

Pattukottai Sivanarayana Moorthy, also known as Siva Narayana Murthy, was an Indian actor celebrated for his comedic roles in Tamil cinema. Born on March 5, 1955, he became renowned for his appearances alongside veteran comedians Vadivelu and Vivek, where he left a lasting impression with his bulk physique, distinctive mustache, and voice.

Hailing from Ponnavarayankottai near Pattukkottai in Thanjavur district, Sivanarayana Moorthy belonged to the Zamindar category. He was married to Pushpavalli and blessed with two sons, Lokesh and Ramkumar, and a daughter named Sreedevi. Tragically, he passed away around 8:30 pm on December 7, 2022, in his hometown Pattukottai due to sudden illness. His final rites were conducted there on December 8, 2022.

Despite his successful career in cinema, Sivanarayana Moorthy faced financial challenges, particularly due to debts incurred for his daughter’s marriage. He expressed his intention to sell his house to repay the debts, but encountered legal obstacles when his daughter contested his decision, claiming her share in the property.

In his illustrious career, spanning over 200 films, Sivanarayana Moorthy portrayed various roles, including policemen, textile owners, rowdies, politicians, and village simpletons. He shared the screen with notable actors like Rajinikanth, Vijay, Ajith Kumar, and Suriya. Notably, he appeared in 20 films each alongside Vadivelu and Vivek.

Sivanarayana Moorthy’s journey in the entertainment industry began when he was discovered by film director Visu at a Lions Club function. This led to his role in the television serial “Veeduthorum Vasantham.” His film debut came in 1998 with the movie “Poonthottam,” where he starred alongside Raghuvaran. Initially starting with villainous roles, he later transitioned to comedy roles, leaving an indelible mark on Tamil cinema.
