Sharlto Copley

Biography:

Actor Sharlto Copley is from South Africa. The Academy Award-nominated science fiction picture District 9, the 2010 version of The A-Team, the science fiction film Elysium, the science fiction horror film Europa Report, the 2014 dark fantasy adventure film Maleficent, and the 2022 thriller Beast are just a few of his acting credits. In addition, he starred in two seasons of the television series Powers (2015–16) as Christian Walker and portrayed the title character in the science fiction movie Chappie and Jimmy in the science fiction action movie Hardcore Henry. He portrayed Leo Bonhart in the fourth season of The Witcher on Netflix in 2025.

Johannesburg, South Africa, is where Sharlto Copley was born. He went to Redhill School in Morningside, Johannesburg, after attending St. Andrew’s Preparatory School in Makhanda. Bruce Copley, his father, was a professor at a university. The lead vocalist of the Cape Town band Hot Water was his brother Donovan.
