Shanti Priya

Biography:

Indian dancer and actress Shanthipriya has primarily performed in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu movies. In Tamil films, she is credited as Nishanthi; in Telugu and Hindi films, she is billed as Shanthipriya. She is the actress Bhanupriya’s younger sister.

In Rangampeta hamlet, close to Rajahmundry, Andhra Pradesh, Shanthipriya was born into a Telugu-speaking household to Pattabiraman and M. Lakshmi. Later, her family relocated to Tamil Nadu’s Chennai. She has an older sister, Bhanupriya, who has been acting in movies since the 1980s, and an older brother, Gopikrishana.

The actress made her cinematic debut in 1987 with the Telugu film Kaboye Alludu, and the same year she made her Tamil debut with Enga Ooru Pattukaran. In the legendary serial Vishwamitra (1989), she was also portrayed as Shakuntala.

After starring as the lead in nearly twenty-five Tamil and Telugu films, she ventured into Bollywood with Raj N. Sippy’s Saugandh (1991), which was Akshay Kumar’s first film appearance. She represents Solitario Diamonds as a brand ambassador.  She is on the World Designing form’s advisory board.
