Shankar Ramakrishnan

Biography:

Indian screenwriter, director, producer, and actor Shanker Ramakrishnan mostly works in Malayalam cinema. He received his LL.B. in law from Government Law College in Thiruvananthapuram, and he began working as soon as he finished his post-graduation studies at CUSAT’s School of Management Studies.

Shankar wrote and directed the highly regarded film segment “Island Express” in the group film Kerala Café. Prithviraj, who portrayed “Leon” in the movie, asked Shankar to write the screenplay for August Cinema’s first production, “Urumi.” Santosh Sivan directed and shot the historical drama film, which starred Prithviraj and Genelia. Shankar’s artistic career underwent a sea change as a result of the film, which also provided him the opportunity to paint on a larger canvas.

Shankar was asked to write the Malayalam script for the Hindi movie “Freaky Chakra” by National Award winner V. K. Prakash. Fahadh Faasil and Kamalinee Mukherjee starred in the postmodern experimental Malayalam film “Netholi oru Cheriya Meen Alla”.

When Shankar’s guru Ranjith offered him a part in his film “Spirit” as the free-spirited cancer patient Alexey Thadeus, his career took an unexpected turn. Shankar received numerous honors for the part, including the “Mathrubhumi Medimix Movie Award” and the “SIIMA Award for Best Male Debutant.” Following Spirit were G.S. Vijayan’s “Bavuttiyude Namathil,” which starred Mammootty and was written by Ranjith, and V.K.P.’s “Poppins.”
