Indian cinematographer Satya Hegde was born on May 17, 1975, and is employed in Kannada films. In 2002, he made his stage debut in Taali Kattuva Shubhavele. After thereafter, he appeared in more than 20 movies and won awards for his roles in Myna (2013) and Duniya (2007), as well as for his partnerships with Suri.
In Haliyal, Uttara Kannada, Karnataka, on May 17, 1975, Satya Hegde was born to Parameshwar Hegde and Savithri. In 1989, he graduated from Haliyal’s Carmel High School. After that, his father, who desired that he pursue a profession in computer science, sent him to Sanduru to finish his Pre-university coursework.
His brother convinced him to get a diploma since he didn’t do well in the course. After deciding to specialize in cinematography at Sri Jayachamarajendra Polytechnic in Bangalore, Hegde graduated in 1995 with a diploma in the field.
As an assistant to well-known cinematographer of the era, B. C. Gowrishankar, Hegde started his career in photography. Along with Ashok Kashyap, he also collaborated with P. Rajan, H.C. Venu, P.K.H. Das, Surendranath Begur, and Krishna. He produced corporate videos, documentaries, TV commercials, and soap operas like Ankura and Swarnarekhe during that time. He was an assistant cinematographer and camera operator for the Kannada films Sparsha (2000), Parva (2002), and H2O.
He debuted as an independent cameraman in the same year, working on Taali Kattuva Shubhavele. After that, he contributed to the 2005 films Masala and Yashwanth, neither of which was a monetary success. After that, Hegde collaborated with Ashok Kashyap on a soap opera before making a comeback to the big screen with the 2007 movie Duniya, which garnered positive reviews from reviewers.
He received recognition for his work in Myna (2013), which was primarily shot outside under artificial lights. After that, he collaborated with director Krishna, who was also a cinematographer, for Gajakesari (2014). Critics praised his work in Rhaatee, describing it as “visual poetry” and showcasing images of the Muthathi jungle and Bangalore. He won the Best Cinematographer prize at the 2014 Karnataka State Film Awards for his efforts on Rhaatee.
