Biography:

Sapna Mukherjee, a celebrated Bollywood playback singer, etched her name in the industry’s history by winning the prestigious Filmfare Award for Best Female Playback Singer for the chart-topping song “Tirchi Topi Wale” in the movie Tridev (1989).

Embarking on her musical journey in 1986, Sapna Mukherjee received her initial break when renowned music directors Kalyanji Anandji granted her the opportunity to lend her voice to three songs for the film Janbaaz. However, it was in 1989 that she truly rose to prominence when Kalyanji Anandji selected her to croon “Tirchi Topi Wale” for the film Tridev, a song that would go on to become a massive hit.

Sapna Mukherjee’s versatility shone as she collaborated with a plethora of esteemed music directors, including Nadeem-Shravan, Raamlaxman, Jatin–Lalit, Anand–Milind, Viju Shah, Bappi Lahiri, Laxmikant–Pyarelal, Channi Singh, Rajesh Roshan, Anu Malik, and the legendary A. R. Rahman. Her vocal collaborations extended to a myriad of celebrated singers, such as Kishore Kumar, Amit Kumar, Kumar Sanu, SP Balasubramanyam, Udit Narayan, Abhijeet, Mohammed Aziz, Vinod Rathod, Sudesh Bhosle, Sonu Nigam, Babul Supriyo, Lucky Ali, Alka Yagnik, Kavita Krishnamurthy, Sadhana Sargam, and more.

In 2006, Sapna Mukherjee added another feather to her cap with the release of her album titled “Mere Piya.” The album showcased her prowess with several solo performances, including a notable duet alongside the popular singer Sonu Nigam. The album’s release event was graced by the presence of the legendary Lata Mangeshkar.

Beyond her playback singing, Sapna Mukherjee has enthralled audiences with live concerts staged in the US, Canada, and the UK. Her soulful renditions have graced the on-screen performances of iconic Bollywood actresses like Rekha, Dimple Kapadia, Sridevi, Madhuri Dixit, Juhi Chawla, Karisma Kapoor, Raveena Tandon, Sonali Bendre, Sushmita Sen, and many others.
