Rupali Ganguly

Biography:

Actress Upali Ganguly, who was born in India on April 5, 1977, is mainly employed in Hindi television. Ganguly gained widespread recognition for her roles as Anupamaa in the drama Anupamaa (2020 – Present) and Manisha “Monisha” Singh Sarabhai in the cult sitcom Sarabhai vs Sarabhai (2004 – 2006). She has won one Indian Television Academy Award and two Indian Telly Awards.

Ganguly began her acting career at a young age, appearing in her father’s 1985 film Saaheb. Her father is the film director Anil Ganguly. After making cameos in less well-received movies, Ganguly’s performance of Dr. Simran Chopra in the medical drama Sanjivani: A Medical Boon (2003–2005) marked the beginning of her professional breakthrough.

She took part in Bigg Boss 1 in 2006. After playing Sujata in Ek Packet Umeed (2008) and Pinky Khanna Ahuja in Parvarrish – Kuchh Khattee Kuchh Meethi (2011–2013), Ganguly went on to star in a number of popular television shows. She then had a seven-year hiatus from acting and returned with Anupamaa.

At the age of seven, Ganguly starred in her father’s 1985 film Saaheb in her acting debut. She debuted on television in 2000 with Sukanya and has since made appearances in Sanjivani and Bhabhi.

For her depiction of Monisha Sarabhai, a middle-class young woman married in a high society, Cuffe Parade-living socialite family, in the cult sitcom Sarabhai vs. Sarabhai from 2004 to 2006, Ganguly garnered both critical and popular praise. Ganguly took part in the reality show Bigg Boss 1 later in November 2006. The eleventh week saw her being ousted.

Throughout her career, she has also appeared in numerous plays in the Hindi theater. A few of these are Patte Khul Gaye, Oye Ki Girl Hain, and Selfie. She took part in Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi 2, a stunt-based reality show on Colors TV, in 2009. In 2008, she also provided a voice in the animated feature Dashavatar.

She opened an advertising agency in Mumbai in 2000. She has been playing the lead role in StarPlus’s Anupamaa since 2020. Anupama: Namaste America, the web series that preceded Anupamaa, debuted on Disney+ Hotstar in 2022, marking Ganguly’s digital debut.
