Rosemarie DeWitt

Biography:

Rosemarie DeWitt, born on October 26, 1971, is an American actress known for her diverse roles in film and television. She gained recognition for her portrayal of Emily Lehman in the series “Standoff,” where she starred alongside her now-husband, Ron Livingston, and for playing Charmaine Craine in “United States of Tara.” DeWitt received critical acclaim for her role in “Rachel Getting Married” (2008), earning several awards and nominations. She also appeared in popular films such as “La La Land” (2016) and “Poltergeist” (2015).

Born in Queens, New York, DeWitt is the granddaughter of boxing legend James J. Braddock, whom she portrayed a neighbor of in the film “Cinderella Man.” She grew up in New Jersey, graduated from Whippany Park High School, and earned a Bachelor of Arts from Hofstra University. She also trained at The Actors Center in New York.

DeWitt’s film career includes roles in “Men, Women, & Children,” “Kill the Messenger,” “Promised Land,” and “Your Sister’s Sister.” She has also appeared in the indie thriller “Sweet Virginia” and the film “Arizona.”

On television, she had prominent roles in “United States of Tara” and “Mad Men,” where she played Don Draper’s mistress in the first season. She also appeared in an episode of “Black Mirror.”

DeWitt has an extensive theater background, with performances in off-Broadway productions such as “Danny and the Deep Blue Sea,” “The Butter and Egg Man,” and “Small Tragedy,” for which the cast received an Obie Award. She also starred in “Family Week.”

She was previously married to actor Chris Messina and later married Ron Livingston in 2009. They have adopted two daughters.
