Robert Rodat

Biography:

Robert Rodat (born around 1960) is an American screenwriter and television producer best known for his Academy Award-nominated screenplay for Steven Spielberg’s war epic Saving Private Ryan.

Rodat’s writing credits include The Comrades of Summer (1992), Tall Tale (1995), Fly Away Home (1996, co-written with Vince McKewin), Saving Private Ryan (1998), and The Patriot (2000). He also contributed to the script revision of 10,000 BC (2008) and helped develop the story for Thor: The Dark World (2013). Additionally, he worked on an early version of the screenplay for the film adaptation of Warcraft, which was later reworked after director Sam Raimi’s departure from the project.

In 2009, Rodat created the science fiction television series Falling Skies for TNT, produced by Steven Spielberg. The show, which depicts human survivors fighting against an alien invasion in a post-apocalyptic world, premiered in 2011 and ran for five seasons, concluding in 2015.
