Preeti Desai

Biography:

Preeti Desai was born in Middlesbrough, North Yorkshire, England, to pyrotechnics company owners Hemlata (née Niak) and Jitendra. Her father is from Kenya and her mother is from Uganda, and both of them are of Gujarati heritage. Anjlee Desai, her younger sibling, sings and writes music. Desai went to Middlesbrough College, Nunthorpe Secondary School, and St. Augustine’s RC Primary School in Coulby Newham.

Supermodel, actress, and former Miss Great Britain Preeti Desai hail from the United Kingdom. In 2006, she created history by becoming the first female Indian champion. In October 2012, Desai was nominated for Best Lead Actress at the South Asian Rising Star Film Awards in New York City. Desai made her acting debut in the critically acclaimed film Shor in the City (2011).

Desai is included in the 2011 lists of People Magazine’s 50 Most Beautiful People and the Times of India’s 50 Most Desirable Women. After being crowned Miss Cleveland in 2006, Desai went on to win Miss Great Britain. She was the first woman of Indian descent to win the title and was a British Indian.

After the previous winner was declared ineligible and the nation chose her to succeed her, she was crowned Miss Great Britain. Desai relocated from the North East of England to London in order to fulfill her duties as Miss Great Britain’s ambassador. Desai was a supporter of organizations such as Mind and Carers Week.

She even went to the Houses of Parliament to persuade MPs to join her in supporting Carers Week, and she even had tea with then-prime minister Gordon Brown at 10 Downing Street to showcase the work of the charities.In 2011, Desai was named one of People magazine’s 50 Most Beautiful People and Time’s 50 Most Desirable Women.

“The first thing you notice about Preeti Desai are her slinky long legs, model physique, and huge doe-like brown eyes,” wrote Esquire magazine in an article describing Desai as “A Woman we love.” She opens her mouth, and a thick Northern English accent suddenly comes out. It’s like a nostalgic flashback from the old Boddingtons commercials, where the women were elegant and sophisticated but, ironically, had thick Manchester accents.

The earthy, mischievous, humorous breath of fresh air enters and preambles.In August 2012, Desai was asked to close the fashion week show for the first time by renowned Indian designer Anita Dongre, who is notorious for never using showstoppers in her runway shows. When asked why she thought Desai should wear the finished item, Anita Dongre replied, “I saw Preeti in my showstopper design; she makes all my designs look beautiful and has the right elegance, confidence, and poise.”
