Padmapriya Janakiraman

Biography:

Indian actress Padmapriya Janakiraman, better known by her moniker Padmapriya, primarily works in Malayalam cinema.In 2004, Padmapriya debuted as an actor in the Telugu film Seenu Vasanthi Lakshmi.Delhi-born Padmapriya was born to Vijaya, a Tamil woman, and Janakiraman, a prominent brigadier in the Indian Army.

After attending Kendriya Vidyalaya in Trimulgherry, Secunderabad, Telangana, she continued her education at Loyola Academy in Alwal, Secunderabad, where she earned a B.Com.She then attended KIAMS, Harihar, to study an MBA in finance. At that time, she was employed by GE Capital in Bangalore and Gurgaon as a risk consultant.She worked for Symphony in Bangalore after leaving GE. She tried her hand at modeling in her spare time, which led to a career in acting and the film industry. In 2001, she was also crowned Miss Andhra Pradesh.In her final year of high school in Andhra Pradesh, Padmapriya produced an album of music.

She also has a master’s degree in public administration from New York University and a postgraduate diploma in environmental law from the National Law School of India University.

In the 2004 Telugu film Seenu Vasanthi Lakshmi, which was a remake of the Malayalam film Vasanthiyum Lakshmiyum Pinne Njaanum, Padmapriya made her acting debut. In the movie, she portrayed the destitute sister of a blind guy who is sexually abused. According to Padmapriya, she agreed to accept this offer “for the sake of friendship”.Her debut in the Malayalam cinema industry that same year, costarring in the movie Kaazhcha with Mammootty, was made possible by this. With her portrayal of a young girl’s mother who finds it difficult to care for another child who was affected by the Gujarat earthquake, she won the Asianet Award for Best Female New Face of the Year in addition to receiving overwhelmingly positive reviews.

Padmapriya wed Jasmine Shah in Mumbai on November 12, 2014. He works at the Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab, which has its headquarters at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, as the Policy Head for South Asia. He is originally from Gujarat.She got to know him while they were both attending New York University and Columbia for their master’s degrees.
