Nicola Correia-Damude (born June 21, 1981) is a Canadian actress based in Toronto. She has appeared in numerous television series, including The Strain (2015), Shadowhunters (2016–2019), Burden of Truth (2018–2021), The Boys (2019–2022), Coroner (2019–2024), Nurses (2020), October Faction (2020), and Law & Order Toronto: Criminal Intent (2024).
She has held recurring roles in Shadowhunters, Annedroids, The Boys, and The Strain, while also making guest appearances in Haven, Degrassi: The Next Generation, and Stargate SG-1. Her film work includes Margarita, Havana 57, and Memory. Additionally, she portrayed the mother in the Canadian children’s series Dino Dana, appearing in 33 episodes from 2017 to 2019.
Correia-Damude studied at the Etobicoke School of the Arts, Studio 58, and the Birmingham Conservatory for Classical Theatre. Her stage performances include Coriolanus and Much Ado About Nothing at the Stratford Festival, Serious Money and The Women and Albertine in Five Times at the Shaw Festival, as well as Canadian productions such as The Madonna Painter (Factory Theatre), Within the Glass (Tarragon Theatre), and Botticelli in the Fire & Sunday in Sodom (Canadian Stage).
She has provided voice work for CBC programs like The Passionate Eye, Afghanada, The Fifth Estate, as well as the video game Starlink: Battle for Atlas and the documentary series David Suzuki Explores.
Of mixed heritage—her mother hails from Guyana while her father is Canadian—Correia-Damude actively advocates for greater cultural diversity in entertainment, expanded roles for women, and improved working conditions for mothers and families in the industry. In addition to acting, she is a singer-songwriter who plays piano and guitar and has trained in various dance styles, including modern, classical, jazz, step, and tap. Her father, Brian Damude, is a photographer and filmmaker best known for directing the 1975 film Sudden Fury.
Correia-Damude is bisexual and has been married to fellow actor Carlos Gonzalez-Vio since 2013. The couple has a son.
