Indian theatre and film actor Naveen D. Padil was born on November 11, 1969 and has appeared in more than 1,000 productions, the majority of which are in Tulu. He is referred to as “Kusalda Arase” (literally, “The King of Comedy”) as a “Master of Comedy and Tragedy” in the Tulu theatre community. His portrayal of humorous characters is what made him most famous. In the 1990s and early 2000s, Padil, Devadas Kapikad, and Aravind Bolar established a well-known trio that performed in Tulu comedies.
The 1994 Malayalam film Vidheyan, which was directed by Adoor Gopalakrishnan, was Padil’s cinematic debut. Padil started his start in films in the late 2000s, mainly in Tulu films, in addition to his stage career. Telikeda Bolli (2012), Oriyardori Asal (2011), and Chaali Polilu (2014) are all well-known flicks. Additionally, he played a supporting part in Jarasandha, a Kannada movie released in 2011. He received an award in the Arts category of the 24th Sandesha Awards in 2014 for his contributions to theatre. He was awarded the Karnataka State Film Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in the 2016 Tulu movie Kudla Cafe.
