Mujeeb Majeed

Biography:

Mujeeb Majeed is an Indian vocalist, composer, and arranger who was born in Thrissur, Kerala, on September 21, 1985. In 2018, he made his mainstream film debut as the music director for the Malayalam-language movie Mandharam. Mujeeb mostly works in Malayalam movies. He received a Kerala State Television Award for Best Music Director for his background music for the short film Pawssible. He is currently based in Kochi, Kerala.

As a child, Mujeeb was introduced to music by his family. His grandfather was a self-taught percussionist and his uncles used to sing with several musical troupes in Kerala. In an online interview, he mentioned A. R. Rahman as his primary inspiration to become a music producer. It was after listening to the soundtrack album of the Bollywood film Taal, at the age of 14, that he decided to create his own music.

Mujeeb’s career as a composer began when his buddy Asha G. Menon gave him the chance to write the title track for a television program called Hridayaragam In 2018, Mujeeb was given the chance to work on his debut feature film, Mandharam. He wrote the background music and songs for Thinkalazhcha Nishchayam, the 2021 National Award winner.
