Matthew McConaughey

Biography:

An actor and a producer from the United States, Matthew McConaughey is known for his charismatic performances and the versatility of his roles that range from romantic comedies, drama movies, and crime movies to television. He was born on November 4, 1969, in Uvalde, Texas. McConaughey began his career with Dazed and Confused in 1993 and became a recognized movie star by starring in A Time to Kill (1996), Contact (1997), The Wedding Planner (2001), and How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days (2003). Later, he shifted to challenging roles playing in The Lincoln Lawyer (2011), Mud (2012), Magic Mike (2012), and television series called True Detective (2014). The period of time that followed became famous as the “McConaissance” since it greatly added to McConaughey’s reputation as a drama performer.

His most recognized role belongs to the role of Ron Woodroof in the movie Dallas Buyers Club (2013). It tells the story of a Texas electrician diagnosed with HIV and who got involved in acquiring treatments. For that performance, McConaughey won the Academy Award for Best Actor along with the Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild Award. In addition to the mentioned, he starred in numerous major movies including Interstellar (2014), The Wolf of Wall Street (2013), Gold (2016), Free State of Jones (2016), White Boy Rick (2018), and The Gentlemen (2019).
