Matt Bellamy

Biography:

Matthew James Bellamy is an English singer, songwriter, and producer who was born on June 9, 1978. He is the English rock band Muse’s lead singer, guitarist, pianist, and lyricist. He is well-known for his musicianship, broad tenor vocal range, and quirky stage attitude.

Cambridge is the birthplace of Bellamy. After his family relocated to Teignmouth, Devon, he and his classmates founded Muse. In 1999, they released Showbiz, their debut album. Bellamy has received eight NME Awards, five MTV Europe Music Awards, two Brit Awards for Best British Live Act, and two Grammy Awards for Best Rock Album with Muse for The Resistance (2009) and Drones (2015). Over 30 million Muse albums have been sold globally.  In 2012, the British Academy of Songwriters, Composers, and Authors presented them with the Ivor Novello Award for International Achievement. In 2021, Bellamy’s compilation of his solo songs, Cryosleep, was released. He has also released solo compositions. He produced the Jaded Hearts Club’s 2020 debut album, You’ve Always Been Here, and plays bass in the supergroup.

Cambridge is where Matthew James Bellamy was born on June 9, 1978. His brother Paul is older than him. The Tornados, a musical group from the 1960s, with George Bellamy as their rhythm guitarist. Their 1962 hit “Telstar” became the first English band to reach the US number one. In the 1970s, his mother, Marilyn, who was born in Belfast, relocated to England. On her first day in England, she met Bellamy’s father, who at the time was a London cab driver. In the mid-1980s, the pair relocated to Teignmouth, Devon, after first settling in Cambridge. Bellamy lived with his mother and brother following his parents’ divorce. He began playing the guitar when he was eleven years old, and the piano when he was six.
