Marlon Brando was an American actor and considered to be one of the most important actors in the history of cinema. He was born on April 3, 1924, in Omaha, Nebraska. Marlon Brando studied at the American Theatre Wing and the Actors Studio, where he is best known as the practitioner of method acting.
He earned fame on Broadway for A Streetcar Named Desire, but then starred again as Stanley Kowalski in Elia Kazan’s movie remake of A Streetcar Named Desire in 1951. It was the performances of The Wild One (1953), On the Waterfront (1954), and The Godfather (1972) that made Marlon Brando a big name in Hollywood, thanks to his realistic acting performances.
Two-time Oscar winner, Brando won the Academy Awards for Best Actor for On the Waterfront (1954) and The Godfather (1972). In addition, he was nominated for Oscar in the categories of A Streetcar Named Desire, Viva Zapata!, Julius Caesar, Sayonara, Last Tango in Paris, and A Dry White Season. The list of his other notable movies includes The Men (1950), Last Tango in Paris (1972), Apocalypse Now (1979), and A Dry White Season (1989). Marlon Brando changed American screen acting with his psychologically motivated and spontaneous acting performance.
Marlon Brando passed away on July 1, 2004, in Los Angeles, California.
