Biography:
Actor, writer/director, and educator Mallika Prasad is from India and has worked in theater, film, television, and training. Her breakthrough performance as Amma, the antagonist in Mardaani 3 (2026), which was praised for its ferocity and complexity, brought her immediate national acclaim. She has almost thirty years of experience working in many media and languages, and she holds two master’s degrees in acting and performance making from NSD and Goldsmiths. Girish Karnad’s National Award-winning Kannada film Kanooru Heggadathi (1999) and the title role in Devi Ahilya Bai (2001) with Shabana Azmi are two of her early cinematic roles. Killer Soup (2024), Aspirants (Seasons 2 and 3), and Almost Pyaar with DJ Mohabbat (2023) are a few recent film credits.
She directed and wrote For My Ela (2025), which has received praise at international festivals. Mallika founded both Vachika Voicework and the Actors Ensemble India Forum, where she serves as artistic director. She is the Fitzmaurice Voice Institute’s Associate Teacher and South Asia Regional Head. She is a seasoned actress and voice instructor. Her stage work includes the META production of Translations, which won an award, and her Edinburgh Fringe Festival-winning solo production of Hidden in Plain Sight.
