Malay Prakash

Biography:

Malay has built a name for himself by infusing his pictures with heart, vitality, and light. He is fervently committed to the art and technique of cinematography. The kind of man you don’t want to go for walks with since you can always find him filming and still-taking ordinary moments on his camera. He is driven by this enthusiasm to use his lens to highlight the voice of the filmmaker.

He was raised in a rich Indian history and is an explorer of many civilizations. He was born in Patna City, India. His film master’s degree from NYU Tisch School of the Arts was awarded to him.

He was a producer-director for BBH, Singapore, in the advertising industry. His employment required him to visit several Asian countries, including Hong Kong, Korea, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Indonesia, to name a few. These travels broadened his horizons and shaped his adaptable approach to cinematography.

Taking a hands-on approach, he plays around with lighting and unconventional framing to get the most visual effect. His goal for his work is to completely engross the audience in the characters’ personal experiences by using an unseen moving camera technique.

After returning to India in 2015, Malay has filmed more than 100 ads in a variety of genres. After working on the second unit cinematography of the film “RAAZI” with fellow comrade Jay Patel, he began his journey into the world of narrative cinema with Meghna Gulzar’s “CHHAPAAK”.

He has been at the center of the nation’s music video scene’s comeback for the past year, having worked in incredibly intimate partnerships with a number of up-and-coming directors to produce some amazing music videos for both indie and mainstream acts.

Malay is currently searching for his next favorite collaborator while honing his art by working on additional music videos and advertisements.
