Indian actress Lakshmi Devi Kanakala (1939/1940 – 3 February 2018) was well recognized for her parts in Telugu films. She was a skilled dancer as well, and at the Madras Film Institute, she served as a tutor for performers such Chiranjeevi, Allari Naresh, Subhalekha Sudhakar, and Suhasini. She was called “Saraswathi Devi (the goddess of knowledge)” by Chiranjeevi.
Lakshmi Devi was wed to famous Telugu actor Devadas Kanakala, who made several cinema appearances throughout a forty-year career. Sri Laxmi and actor Rajeev Kanakala were the couple’s two children. Lakshmi Kanakala passed away from cardiac arrest in a private hospital in Hyderabad. Her age was 78 years.
