Indian actor and producer Kunchacko Boban was born on November 2, 1976, and is employed in the Malayalam cinema business. He is known as Chackochan, and due of his romantic persona, he was dubbed the “chocolate boy” in the early 2000s. Over the course of more than 20 years, he has acted in over 100 films. He belongs to the Kunchacko clan.
As a kid, Kunchacko made his screen debut in the 1981 film Dhanya, which was produced by his father, Boban Kunchacko. He became a bankable actor overnight after making his acting debut opposite Shalini in Fazil’s 1997 love drama Aniyathipraavu, which at the time was the highest-grossing Malayalam film. He had a brief appearance in the top-grossing Malayalam film of the year, Harikrishnans (1998), starring Mohanlal and Mammootty.
In the popular love flicks Nakshatratharattu (1998), Niram (1999), and Prem Poojari (1999), Kunchacko and Shalini reunited. One of the year’s highest-grossing movies, Niram (2000), inspired multiple remakes. He had established a reputation as a “romantic hero” in Malayalam film by that point, but he also achieved success in other genres, playing a villager in the 2001 comedy Narendran Makan Jayakanthan Vaka and a debt-ridden family’s son in the 2003 drama Kasthooriman. After a couple box office setbacks in the mid-2000s, his career took a turn for the worse. In 2006, he stepped away from filmmaking to pursue a career in business.
