Kristen Wiig

Biography:

American actress, comedian, screenwriter, and producer Kristen Carroll Wiig was born on August 22, 1973. Wiig became well-known in the late 2000s for her seven seasons on the NBC sketch comedy series Saturday Night Live (SNL) from 2005 to 2012 after first making her name as a performer with the Los Angeles comedic ensemble The Groundlings.

Wiig was nominated four times for the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series during her stint on Saturday Night Live. In addition, she co-wrote and starred in the critically and financially successful comedy Bridesmaids (2011), as well as supporting parts in Knocked Up (2007) and Paul (2011). She was nominated for both the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay and the Golden Globe for Best Actress for the movie.

The Secret Life of Walter Mitty (2013), The Skeleton Twins (2014), The Diary of a Teenage Girl (2015), The Martian (2015), Ghostbusters (2016), Downsizing (2017), Mother! (2017), and Wonder Woman 1984 (2020) were among the movies in which Wiig starred after leaving Saturday Night Live. Additionally, she provided voices for characters in the animated films Sausage Party (2016), How to Train Your Dragon (2010–2019), Despicable Me (2010–present), and Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs (2009). Wiig’s performance in the comedy miniseries earned her a Primetime Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress. The Spoils of Babylon (2014) and for her performance in the comedy-drama series Palm Royale (2024), which earned her a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series.
