Biography:

Krishand R. K. is an Indian filmmaker who has established a distinctive identity in Malayalam cinema through experimental storytelling, unusual visual techniques and socially relevant themes. Working as a director, screenwriter, cinematographer, editor and producer, he approaches filmmaking as a combination of storytelling and creative exploration. He studied engineering at Mohandas College of Engineering and Technology before pursuing a Master of Design at IDC School of Design, IIT Bombay.

Krishand’s feature-film journey gained attention with Vrithakrithyilulla Chathuram, which introduced audiences to his unconventional approach. He subsequently directed Aavasavyuham, a film that blends mockumentary techniques, environmental concerns, humour and social commentary. The film received major recognition, including a National Film Award and Kerala State Film Awards. His other notable work, Purusha Pretham, combines crime, satire and dark comedy to explore the complexities of policing and human behaviour.

Alongside feature films, Krishand has worked on short films, documentaries and web series such as Utsaha Ithihasam and People in Transaction. His experience across different formats reflects a willingness to experiment rather than follow conventional filmmaking formulas. He has also been involved in film education and academic work at IIT Bombay. Through his distinctive visual language and thought-provoking stories, Krishand continues to contribute to the evolving landscape of contemporary Malayalam cinema.
