Born on April 5, 1989, Kristopher Bowers is an American filmmaker, pianist, and composer. He has written music for the shows Bridgerton, Mrs. America, Dear White People, When They See Us, and Secret Invasion, as well as movies like Green Book, King Richard, The Color Purple, and The Wild Robot. Bowers and his co-director Ben Proudfoot took home the Academy Award for Best Documentary Short Film at the 96th Academy Awards for The Last Repair Shop. A Concerto Is a Conversation, their prior collaboration, was nominated for a 93rd Academy Award as well.
Bowers’ adaption of The Snowy Day on Amazon Prime Video won the Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Music Direction and Composition. He has received numerous nominations for the Grammy, Critics’ Choice, and Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards.
Bowers has recorded, performed, and worked with Alicia Keys, Jay-Z, and José James during his career. Additionally, he has worked with filmmakers Justin Simien, Chris Sanders, Malcolm D. Lee, Reinaldo Marcus Green, Ava DuVernay, and Blitz Bazawule.
