Karishma Kohli

Biography:

Karishma Kohli is a filmmaker and director from India, born and raised in Mumbai. She has created various works in Hindi cinema, television, digital, and branded content. She graduated from the New York Film Academy and started her career at Yash Raj Films. For more than ten years there she worked as an assistant and associate director in various big films. At that time, Kohli worked with the director Kabir Khan in such films as New York (2009), Ek Tha Tiger (2012), Bajrangi Bhaijaan (2015), and Tubelight (2017). In this way, she got vast experience in Hindi film industry before becoming an independent director.

The first directorial works of Kohli are the mini-trailer The Mini Truck (2017), The Reunion (2018), and the short movie The Woman Under the Tree (2020). Kohli got popularity by directing Mentalhood (2020), the series starring Karisma Kapoor about modern motherhood, with all its problems and challenges. Afterward, she directed The Fame Game (2022) starring Madhuri Dixit and Sanjay Kapoor for Netflix and directed an episode of Coke Studio Bharat. Having vast experience in major Hindi film productions and in digital content, Kohli created a versatile directorial career based on modern characters and relationships.
