Biography:

Kanika Kapoor, hailing from Lucknow, India, stepped into Mumbai in 2012 to chase her dream of becoming a singer. Her big break came with “Jugni Ji” (2012), a song for a music video, and she made her Bollywood debut with “Baby Doll” in the movie Ragini MMS 2 (2014). This track soared to the top of music charts, winning her the prestigious Filmfare Award for Best Female Playback Singer.

Afterward, her songs like “Lovely,” “Chittiyaan Kalaiyaan,” and more for various films skyrocketed in popularity, establishing her as a top singer in Hindi cinema. However, in 2020, she faced controversy after testing positive for COVID-19 following her attendance at gatherings despite health advisories, leading to legal repercussions.

Kapoor’s musical journey began early with classical training under Pandit Ganesh Prasad Mishra, and she earned degrees in music from the Bhatkhande Music Institute, Lucknow. Married and later separated from Raj Chandok, with whom she has three children, she tied the knot with NRI businessman Gautam Hathiramani in 2022 after dating for some time. Despite singing Punjabi songs in Bollywood, Kapoor doesn’t speak the language and identifies herself as a “UP Khatri.”
