Film producer Jon Landau was from the United States. He is most recognized for his work with director James Cameron, having produced both Cameron’s Avatar film series (2009–present) and the Academy Award–winning epic romantic disaster picture Titanic (1997). Three of the four highest-grossing movies ever made as of 2025 are Titanic, Avatar (2009), and Avatar: The Way of Water (2022), with Avatar topping the list.
Other noteworthy credits include producing Alita: Battle Angel (2019) and Solaris (2002) with Cameron, as well as Dick Tracy (1990) and Honey, I Shrunk the Kids (1989). The following three Avatar movies will be Landau’s last creations after his 2024 cancer death, for which he will receive posthumous credit. Following his cancer diagnosis, Cameron wrote his memoir, The Bigger Picture: My Blockbuster Life & Lessons Learned Along the Way, which will be released in November 2025 with a preface.
