American actor Jonathan Edward Bernthal was born on September 20, 1976. He gained notoriety as Shane Walsh, a prominent character in the first two seasons of the AMC horror drama series The Walking Dead (2010–2012; 2018). By making appearances in the second season of Daredevil (2016), the spin-off series The Punisher (2017–2019), and the revival series Daredevil: Born Again (2025–present), Bernthal further solidified his reputation as Frank Castle/The Punisher in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He received a Primetime Emmy Award for his recurrent guest role as Michael Berzatto, the proprietor of a restaurant, in the television series The Bear (2022–present). Ford v.
