Jessie T. Usher Jr. (born February 29, 1992) is an American actor best known for his role as Reggie Franklin, a.k.a. A-Train, in Amazon Prime Video’s The Boys. He has also starred as Lyle Hugginson in Level Up and Cam Calloway in Survivor’s Remorse. Usher’s film credits include When the Game Stands Tall (2014), Independence Day: Resurgence (2016), Shaft (2019), and Smile (2022).
Born in Silver Spring, Maryland, to Jessie T. and Judith Usher, he developed an interest in acting at age five after his sister booked a commercial. His first role was in an Oscar Mayer ad, and in 2003, his family moved to Los Angeles to support his acting career. A gifted student, Usher graduated high school at 15 and later studied culinary arts in community college.
Usher made his professional acting debut in Without a Trace (2005) and later appeared in Hannah Montana (2007). He gained recognition starring in the Level Up TV movie (2011) and its subsequent series. His breakout role came in Survivor’s Remorse (2014–2017), executive produced by LeBron James.
In 2016, Usher played a key role in Independence Day: Resurgence and co-starred in Almost Christmas. He later led the 2019 sequel to Shaft, playing the son of Samuel L. Jackson’s character. His career soared with his casting as A-Train in The Boys (2019–present), bringing his charismatic yet flawed speedster character to life. In 2020, he starred opposite Camila Mendes in Netflix’s Dangerous Lies, and in 2022, he appeared in the psychological horror film Smile.
