Born on February 3, 1972, Jesper Kyd Jakobson is a Danish composer and sound designer who has worked on numerous video game, television, and film projects. Among many other films, he has written soundtracks for the Hitman, Assassin’s Creed, Borderlands, Darksiders II, Freedom Fighters, and State of Decay franchises. He uses electronic soundscapes, choir, orchestra, and acoustic manipulations in his compositions.
Kyd began learning to play the piano at a young age. He later spent several years learning how to play the classical guitar, read notes, sing in choirs, and compose classical music for the piano. He is primarily self-taught, though. At the age of 14, Kyd began utilizing computers for composition on a Commodore 64 and then an Amiga. After joining the demogroup Silents DK, he and Mikael Balle began working with a group of programmers called Crionics. In the end, they created Hardwired, an Amiga demoscene production. Together with Mikael Balle, Kyd also composed the music for the first wild demo, Global Trash 2.
