American author, poet, and prolific essayist Jenny Zhang was born in Brooklyn, New York, in 1983. Her work focusses on the identity and experiences of Chinese American immigrants in the US. She is the author of a non-fiction chapbook titled Hags and a collection of poetry titled Dear Jenny, We Are All Found. Zhang published a lot for Rookie between 2011 and 2014. Zhang has also contributed essays to various magazines on a freelance basis. Zhang’s collection of short stories, Sour Heart, was initially acquired by Lena Dunham’s Lenny imprint, Lenny Books, through Random House in August 2017.
