Jayaraj Warrier is an Indian actor, stand-up comedian, Ottamthullal performer, and caricaturist, known for his supporting and comedic roles in Malayalam films.
Hailing from Thrissur, Kerala, Warrier completed his schooling at S.N. Boys High School, Kanimangalam, Thrissur. He pursued higher education at Chinmaya Mission College and St. Aloysius College in Thrissur.
Warrier began his artistic journey in 1982 as an amateur theater artist after training in Ottamthullal. From 1984, he spent seven years with the Root Theater Group, led by Jose Chirammel.
His daughter, Indulekha Warrier, is a playback singer and stage performer. She debuted as a music composer for the film Duniyavinte Orattathu. Warrier himself has performed notable roles in stage productions such as Mudrarakshasam, Bhomaolpadanathinte Sooryavetta, Chathuppil Parkkunnavar, and Shavaghoshayathra.
In addition to his acting career, Warrier is a renowned caricaturist and has conducted numerous caricature shows both in India and abroad. Notably, in July 2003, he performed a caricature show for the Kerala Assembly members, a first in the Assembly’s history.
In 2010, he was honored with the Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Akademi Award for his outstanding contributions to drama and caricature.
