American actor, television producer, and director Jack Bender was born on September 25, 1949. He is most known for directing Lost, The Sopranos, Game of Thrones, and From. Bender was raised in a secular Jewish family in Los Angeles. In the Hollywood community, his father was a furrier.Actress Joanna Merlin’s husband, Los Angeles artist Martin Lubner, taught him art before he decided to pursue acting “because it seemed like what I could do and make a living.”As an actor, Bender appeared as a guest star on The Bob Newhart Show, The Mary Tyler Moore Show, and All in the Family.Savage, McNaughton’s Daughter, and The Million Dollar Duck were among his co-starring roles. After that, he started directing and worked on other television shows.
Before taking on the role of executive producer and primary director on the ABC television series Lost, he directed the well-known slasher film Child’s Play 3. He oversaw 38 episodes of the show, including the finale. Other well-known programs that Bender has directed include Boston Public, Carnivàle, Alias, and The Sopranos. He recently served as the lead director and executive producer for the television shows The Last Ship (2014–15) and Under the Dome (2013). After directing the fifth and sixth episodes of Game of Thrones’ sixth season in 2016, Bender went on to direct episodes of Mr. Mercedes (2017–2019), a limited TV series based on Stephen King’s book of the same name.
