Apsara Rani, born Anketa Maharana on January 12, 1996, is an Indian actress known for her work primarily in Telugu cinema. Her debut was in R. Raghuraj’s romantic drama “4 Letters.” Following this, she starred in the romantic horror film “Oollalla Oollalla” directed by Satya Prakash in 2020, alongside Nataraj and Noorin Shereef.
Despite a January 1, 2020 release, the film received negative reviews and performed poorly at the box office. In the subsequent year, she appeared in the romantic thriller “Thriller” directed by Ram Gopal Varma, opposite newcomer Rock Kacchi, after which she adopted the stage name Apsara Rani, as suggested by Varma.
Amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, “Thriller” was released on the Shreyas ET App on August 14, 2020, but received negative feedback.
In 2021, Apsara made a cameo in Gopichand Malineni’s thriller “Krack,” featuring Ravi Teja and Shruti Haasan, appearing as an item girl in the song “Bhoom Bhaddhal.” She also featured as an item girl in the song “Pepsi Aunty” from the movie “Seetimaarr.”
Upcoming projects include Ram Gopal Varma’s “Dangerous,” India’s first lesbian crime action film, where she stars alongside Naina Ganguly.
She is also slated to play the female lead in the bilingual film “Patnagarh,” produced in Odia and Telugu languages, based on the Patnagarh bombing. Additionally, Apsara will reunite with Ram Gopal Varma’s “D Company” as an item girl in the film.
