Indu Anand

Indu Anand, renowned for her portrayal of innocent and positive mother roles, is a familiar face in both the Indian television and film industry, particularly well-known to Telugu audiences. With a career spanning over fifty-plus films and television shows, she has carved a niche for herself as a versatile supporting actress.

Born and raised in Mumbai, with roots tracing back to Palghat in Kerala, Indu Anand, originally named Indira, adopted the stage name after venturing into the industry. Hailing from a family with a strong educational background – her father served in the Military, while her mother was a teacher – Indu pursued a degree in English literature from a Mumbai college. She initially worked as a clerk in the central government before delving into Housekeeping specialization in Hotel Management and Fashion designing.

Married at the age of 20, Indu embarked on a journey that led her to Delhi and eventually settled in Hyderabad after stints in Mumbai and Bangalore. Her foray into acting came later in life, at the age of thirty-eight, supported by her husband and family. Notably, she made her acting debut in the Doordarshan TV Serial “Sahasra Phan” in 1995, based on the Telugu novel “Veyi Padagalu” by Viswanatha Satyanarayana.

In the Telugu film industry, Indu Anand’s presence has been felt since her debut in Raghavendra Rao’s romantic movie “Bombay Priyudu” in 1996, where she portrayed actress Rambha’s mother. Over the years, she has portrayed memorable roles in films alongside top actors like Pawan Kalyan in commercials and movies such as “Badri” and “Kushi.”

Indu’s versatility extends beyond films, as she has also made significant contributions to television, with notable roles in popular series like “Sravana Sameeralu,” “Koilamma,” “Manasu Mamatha,” and “Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu.”
