Honey Irani is an Indian actress and screenwriter known for her work in Hindi cinema. Her acting career began as a child with films like Chirag Kahan Roshni Kahan and Bombay Ka Chor, and she appeared in over 72 movies.
After her divorce, Irani supported her family by embroidering sarees while pursuing writing. Her storytelling skills led to her first major screenwriting success with Lamhe (1991), which earned her the Filmfare Award for Best Story. This was followed by another Filmfare Award for Kya Kehna (2002) and a Best Screenplay win for Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai (2001).
Irani, the youngest of five siblings, married scriptwriter and poet Javed Akhtar in 1972. They had two children, Zoya and Farhan Akhtar, both of whom have become successful filmmakers. Following their separation in 1978 and subsequent divorce in 1985, Irani focused on raising her children and later established herself as a respected screenwriter.
