Girly Anto, known by her screen name Gopika and born on February 1, 1984, is a former Indian actress primarily known for her roles in Malayalam films. Her journey into the entertainment industry began with modeling before she made her acting debut in the Malayalam movie “Pranayamanithooval” in 2002, directed by Thulasidas.
In this film, she starred alongside Jayasurya and Vineeth Kumar. Notably, Gopika also appeared in films from the Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada film industries.
Gopika was born as Girly Anto into a Syro Malabar Catholic family in Ollur, Thrissur, Kerala. Her parents are Anto Francis and Tessy Anto, and she has a younger sister named Glini. She completed her education up to the 12th Standard at St. Raphael’s Convent Girls High School in Ollur and pursued a degree in sociology from Calicut University. Additionally, she received training in classical dance from the renowned teacher Kamalher and was honored with the title of ‘Miss College’ during her college farewell event.
Interestingly, her participation in the beauty contest ‘Miss Thrissur,’ where she emerged as the runner-up, led to her initial modeling assignments. It’s worth noting that, contrary to her eventual career, Gopika’s original ambition was to become an air-hostess, and she never initially aspired to become an actress.
