Giselli Monteiro

Biography:

Giselli Monteiro is a Bollywood actress and former model from Brazil. In the 2009 Bollywood film Love Aaj Kal, which was directed by Imtiaz Ali, she made her cinematic debut as Harleen Kaur.

In Brazil’s Espírito Santo, Monteiro was born. At the age of seventeen, she began modeling, and since then, she has visited Italy, Germany, France, Greece, Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand, and the Philippines. In 2008, she traveled to Mumbai, India. She made her Bollywood acting debut in Imtiaz Ali’s Love Aaj Kal, starring Saif Ali Khan and Deepika Padukone, playing the traditional Punjabi girl Harleen Kaur. She was deliberately kept secret while the movie was being promoted.

Her identity was made public after the movie’s release, and it was also disclosed that she had contacted Ali through designer Anaita Shroff Adajania to try out for the part of Jo, Saif Ali Khan’s girlfriend in the second half of the movie. However, at his wife’s suggestion, Ali cast her as Harleen, particularly since he had been unsuccessful in casting girls from all over India for that role.

Along with his acting career, Monteiro has served as an Indian brand ambassador for Wills Lifestyle, Movil Mobiles, and PC Jewellers. In her native Brazil, Monteiro spoke about Mumbai on Rede Globo’s Fantástico broadcast in May 2010. In 2014, Monteiro left his lucrative modeling job after  three films to study architecture at the University of Vila Velha in Espírito Santo, Brazil. She claimed that studying architecture was her passion and that she had no intention of appearing in movies.
