Gauravv K. Chawla

Biography:

Gauravv K. Chawla is an Indian filmmaker, screenwriter, and director who primarily creates content for Hindi films and digital entertainment. He graduated from Mayo College, Ajmer, and H.R. College of Commerce & Economics, Mumbai. In the beginning, Chawla was an assistant and second unit director for filmmakers Rohan Sippy, Shaad Ali, and Nikkhil Advani. In those days, he helped to create Kuch Naa Kaho (2003), Bluffmaster! (2005), Jhoom Barabar Jhoom (2007), Chandni Chowk to China (2009), Patiala House (2011), and Dum Maaro Dum (2011). Besides feature films, he also directed various TV commercials throughout India and South Asia, developing his own visual storytelling style prior to becoming an independent director.

Chawla gained public attention as the writer and director of the acclaimed TV series P.O.W. – Bandi Yuddh Ke (2016-2017), which was based on the Israeli series Hatufim. His first feature-length film as the director is a financial thriller Baazaar (2018), with the main actors being Saif Ali Khan, Radhika Apte, and Rohan Mehra. As the director of Baazaar, Chawla won several nominations for Best Debut Director at various award ceremonies. Moreover, he co-directed a comedy-drama series Kaun Banegi Shikharwati (2022) and a horror thriller Adhura (2023) for ZEE5 and Amazon Prime Video correspondingly. The former series got many positive reviews from the audience because of its captivating narrative and cinematic direction. Chawla is known for his works within thriller, drama, comedy, and horror genres.
